Wonder Woman, Best Female Trailer Ever

*scroll to the bottom to see the trailer first

So there are some movie trailers that make you sit up a bit and take note. Most action movies are built to feel like a Gatorade commercial on speed, making the hair on your arms raise and getting your pulse going because you want to feel as impenetrable and sexy as the character fighting in the film.

Especially for those who spend some of their time sweating and working on their agility, abilities, and physique, these trailers hit us a bit harder. But up until now, those hyper machismo and overly coordinated movie trailers were owned by the men of Hollywood. Here are a few that are particularly awesome and particularly masculine.

Batman vs. Superman

The Dark Knight Rises

Also up until now, female action movies have been subpar, and have focused entirely on the female’s sexuality. Think Angelina Jolie as Tomb Raider, wearing short shorts and a tank top that barely contains the family pearls. Can’t remember a female action movie trailer? Here’s Catwoman which starred Halle Berry:

She’s stopping bad guys, but somehow I only remember her sleek walk in her skin tight bodysuit. I don’t particularly feel female empowered or ready to use my muscles to kick butt after watching that. But this trailer, this Wonder Woman trailer is everything. She’s sexy, she’s strong, she’s independent, she has a real backstory that rivals Superman, and she’s athletic. This trailer is Gatorade on speed, and every second of it makes me want to get in the gym and get after it.
